The Chainsaw Chix were once again invited to perform at the Fall Jubilee in the Beautiful Town of Historic Manassas. This event featured an additional two carvers. Joining Alicia and Sara Winter this year were Lisa Foster, our Montana Chainsaw Chix Member and Special Guest, Zoe Boni. |

This Father's Day Event featured an eclectic group of carvers from all around the world. Japanese Carver, Hiro, shone bright at this event, producing intricate carvings that amazed not only the crowds but fellow carvers as well.

Battling through rain to complete their carving, the artists showed their perserverence through meteorological adversity.

After seeing the Chix at an event in Virginia, Manassas decided the Chainsaw Chix would be a welcome addition to the Fall Jubilee. Sporting "Manassas needs the Chix" buttons people in the community pulled for the Chainsaw Chix and that year Historic Manassas hosted two members of the team during the Fall Jubilee.

Invited by Husqvarna to feature their products during the Ohio Outdoors Show, Chainsaw Chix Alicia Charlton and Sara Winter performed one hour quick carves at the event using Husqvarna saws and equipment.

Set in the picturesque village of Wohlmirstedt (Burgenlandkreis) in East Germany this show is the first for the area and brain child of Chainsaw Carver Sebastian Seiffert. Over thirty international carvers were brought together to create sculptures for an outdoor permenant instillation within the community.

I don't know that there is any place in the world that enjoys the extreme art of chainsaw carving as much as Butte Montana, the home town of Evel Knievel and host of the X-Games. Bikes flipped, flamming people jumped off buildings and the Chainsaw Chix let the sawdust fly. Tag team carving with fellow chix a sculpture of Evel popping a wheelie was created for the town of Butte.

Darby is a quaint little community which hosts an annual Logger's Day Bonanza filled with axe throwing, tree climbing and sawing. Lisa Temanson and myself created pieces for auction and performed a 20 minute demo for the crowd.

Put on by Lynn Backus and Auctioned off by Boaz this event brings in some of the heavy hitters in the carving world to amaze the crowds. This relaxed event allows carvers to sell pieces in addition to creating carvings for auction. Enormous chunks of cedar are provided and all tools are permitted.

Seven carvers came together in Eureka to complete one masterpiece carving to be auctioned away at the one day event. Awards were given out and then the silent auction followed. Fellow "Chainsaw Chix" member, Lisa Temanson was awarded first place as well as People's Choice with a beautifully carved heron. Big Congrats to an amazing carver.

The Masters of the Chainsaw and the Chainsaw Chix competed in the International Extreme Power Carving Competition in Schnecksville, PA. 12 Carvers from Japan, Germany, USA and Canada participated in this chainsaw only event. With three one hour quick carves (mammal, bird and aquatic) and a 6 foot masterpiece to be completed in 4 1/4 hours it was most definitely a learning experience I will always cherish. The calibre of artwork these artists can create in the allocated time is amazing.

Being booked by Matser's to do three 1 hour quick carves afforded me a great oppurtunity to meet various carvers from around the Wisconsin and Minnesota area. Flying into Wisconsin, I met up with Jerry Schieffer and caravaned into Minnesota. The family of employees at Lowes was a joy to work with. From supervisors to cashiers, their excitement over the artform brought a smile to my face. |

Wow ... What a beautiful area. I travelled up the coast of La Jolla to watch the seals during pupping season as well as stopped by the world renowned San Diego Zoo. Watching the seals truly inspired me. One was on his back and struggling to scratch his head and was so ackward and hilarious. I missed the birth of a seal by three minutes but here is a picture of the pup with proud momma.

Alicia is invited into "Masters of the Chainsaw". The new Woman's Division titled "Chainsaw Chix" is an international group of female carvers devoted to the craft of chainsaw carving. Hand-Selected to participate, these top female carvers from Germany, Australia, Canada and the US will battle the talented men of this art form for prizes, money and bragging rights.

Along with 225 or so carvers from all around the world, Alicia participated in the Ridgway Rendezvous. Each carver donates a piece to the auction which raises money for the Make a Wish Foundation ... this is the largest event of its kind and an amazing experience. You can feel the air alive with the sound of saws but also the creative energy everyone is exerting. AMAZING. |

This collabrative effort brings artist and company together to create a truly unique piece of art that reflexs the goals of Coca-Cola Ltd. and the Charity. Though no piece is alike the sentiment of each piece is the same, our responsibility to spread love, hope and support to those in need to open up a brighter future.

Alicia once again participated in the One of a Kind Christmas Show. As well as displaying for the entire show, she was also invited to participate in the Designer's Reception. Selected Artists were showcased to designers in a private room, to provide a more intimate surrounding to talk with the artists out of the bussle of the show.

Along side carvers from across North America Alicia teamed up with Amy Canada (founder of The KatRita Wood Project) to help make a diference. Art created from trees downed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita helped raise funds for the rebuild efforts in New Orleans and surrounding areas. |

Building Bridges, Building Hope
GV participants learn about poverty housing, development challenges and HFHI’s ecumenical Christian ministry and mission to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness worldwide. GV team members give of themselves as they work alongside homeowners and local volunteers of all backgrounds, races and religions. Learning about the host community’s culture, language and social practices as well as developing new skills and confidence are additional benefits of participating in a GV trip. |
